Ginger puts a woven checkerboard across the foot. The strap is built from flat strips crossed over and under each other in a basketweave, each square printed in a slightly different mottled grey, so the pattern shifts across the width instead of repeating cleanly. Up close it reads as handwork; from a distance it is a quiet grey texture. A small metal stud sits at the outer edge, the only hard detail on the shoe.
The strap is cut wide — a broad V that covers most of the instep rather than a narrow band. That is the comfort decision on this pair. A wide strap carries the foot over a larger area, so nothing presses into one line, and it stops the upper cutting in when you have been standing a while.
Underneath is a deep chunky sole, sculpted rather than slab-sided: scooped away under the arch, rising through the heel, with a moulded groove running along the sidewall. The footbed is finished in fine wave ridges across the width, contoured through the arch and cupped at the heel.
This colourway is black throughout, with the weave in greys — the pattern visible without being loud, which makes it the rare textured sandal that still goes with everything.
Details
-
Woven basketweave strap — flat strips crossed over and under, each square in a slightly different mottled grey so the pattern never repeats flat.
-
Wide V-strap — cut broad across the instep so the hold spreads over more of the foot instead of pressing along one band.
-
Chunky sculpted sole — deep cushioning, scooped under the arch and raised through the heel, with a moulded groove along the sidewall.
-
Wave-ridged footbed — fine moulded ridges across the width, contoured with a cupped heel.
-
Metal stud detail — a single small stud set at the outer edge of the strap.
-
Sizes 37 to 41 (EU) — five sizes, one width.
-
Easy to clean — wipe with a damp cloth and air dry out of direct sun. A woven strap traps dust between the strips, so brush along the weave rather than scrubbing across it.
For the days you want some texture on your foot and nothing else to think about.
