Aqua is the sure-footed one. It shares its shape with Relax — the same V-strap, the same walking sole — but everything that touches a surface has been made to hold rather than slip.
Start with the strap. It is cut wider than Relax across the instep, and the whole face is embossed in a fine raised diamond grain. A wider strap spreads the load over more of the foot instead of pressing it into one line, and the grain gives the foot something to sit against, so the strap does not creep as you walk.
The footbed carries the same diamond lattice in a deeper relief, running the full length, and the outsole beneath is cut into deep scalloped blocks with channels between them — a tread pattern with somewhere for water to go, which is what matters on a wet bathroom floor or a washed courtyard.
None of this makes it a technical shoe. It is still a thong sandal you can wear to the market. It is simply the one in the range built for the surfaces that usually make a flip-flop a bad idea.
This colourway is a soft tan strap over a navy footbed on a sand-coloured sole — warmer than the plain neutrals and the only navy in the women's range.
Details
-
Wide textured V-strap — cut broader across the instep than a standard thong, with a raised diamond grain across the face so the foot sits against it rather than sliding.
-
Deep channelled outsole — scalloped tread blocks with channels between them, giving water somewhere to clear rather than sitting under the foot.
-
Deep-relief footbed — full-length diamond lattice, moulded deeper than the rest of the range for a surer hold underfoot.
-
Fox emblem on the strap — the running fox set into the grain, in a darker tone than the strap.
-
Sizes 4 to 8 — five sizes, one width.
-
Easy to clean — rinse or wipe with a damp cloth and air dry. The textured surfaces hold dust in the grain, so a soft brush works better than a cloth alone.
For the wet floors and the washed courtyards — the pair you keep by the door for the jobs the dressier sandals are wrong for.
